Cry Freedom

This artwork illustrates a man who has been oppressed by external factors in his life. He is in a state of misery and is unable to uplift his oppressed circumstances. He now cries ‘FREEDOM” in hope that the darkness he is experiencing transforms into light and that The moon will one day yield the sun’. If you look close at this artwork you will see that the man's head is shaped like the continent of Africa. In the background is a crescent moon is being pushed away by a blue sun which symbolizes darkness fading away and hope being regained. The man back is turned away from the blue sun which symbolizes he is only focused on his misery and is unaware of the revolutionary change that is taking place.

Inspiration The artist was inspired to create this piece due to Zimbabwe's hardship and oppression.
